In this tutorial, you learn how to add a free trial to a subscription. A free trial is nothing more than an introductory offer you define in App Store Connect. The type of the introductory offer is Free. Let's look at the steps you need to take to add a free trial to a subscription.
Adding an Introductory Offer
Visit App Store Connect in your favorite browser. Select Apps from the grid of options and click the app you want to add a free trial to. From the Features section on the left, choose Subscriptions. A free trial is always associated with an auto-renewable subscription.
Select the subscription group the subscription belongs to.
From the list of subscriptions, select the subscription you want to add the free trial to.
Scroll to the Subscription Prices section, click the + button, and choose Create Introductory Offer.
Choose the countries or regions for the introductory offer.
Set the start date and the end date for the introductory offer. The end date is optional. If you don't define an end, the introductory offer doesn't expire.
The next step is important. To add a free trial, you need to set the type of the introductory offer to Free. By selecting the Free radio button, you can further customize the duration of the free trial. You can choose from a range of predefined options.
Confirm the introductory offer to add it to the subscription.
Multiple Introductory Offers
A subscription can have multiple introductory offers as long as they don't conflict with each other. Each subscription has its own introductory offers. This means you can define a free trial of one week to a monthly subscription and a free trial of two weeks to a yearly subscription.
